WELLINGTON, New Zealand — Three men and one woman are in custody after mass shooting attacks left multiple people dead at two mosques in New Zealand.

According to the Associated Press, the attack Friday afternoon may have been fueled by anti-immigrant sentiment. A manifesto left by a man who claimed responsibility for the attacks said he wanted to target three mosques and considered his actions terrorism.

The attacks were called “one of New Zealand’s darkest days” by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Police have reportedly defused multiple IEDs left on vehicles around the mosques.
